Intestinal cancer, called small or large intestine cancer, is when aberrant cells develop uncontrolled in the intestinal lining. It can originate in the small intestine, often as adenocarcinoma, or in the large intestine (colorectal cancer). Risk factors include age, genetic predisposition, inflammatory bowel disease, poor diet, smoking, and alcohol use. Symptoms vary but may include abdominal pain, weight loss, blood in stool, changes in bowel habits, or anaemia. Diagnosis typically involves imaging, endoscopy, and biopsy.
