Wellness with Amy Li
Manage episode 454924386 series 3591789
We continued with our recognition of August as National Wellness Month, hearing the fascinating story of Amy Li and her Dance4Healing. We also heard a bit more from our co-hosts Debbie Howad and Linda Sherman, passionate advocates for leveraging creativity and thoughtful design to improve health and wellness outcomes.
Amy shared insights on using arts for health improvement. Inspired by personal recovery from Stage IV cancer, Amy focused on cancer support programs, launching her first at Stanford. Her literature review highlighted creative arts’ profound effects on quality of life.
Amy’s program also targets diabetes and cardiovascular health, inspired by a UK study linking dance to a 46% reduction in cardiovascular mortality. Lastly, her work emphasizes the positive impact the arts have on dementia, citing a 76% risk reduction through dancing.
Debbie shared her perspectives on balancing caregiving responsibilities with personal well-being, highlighting her annual, free “31-day Easy Self-care Challenge” that helps improve awareness and routines around self-care.
Linda explained how MBET Health’s 21 day stay in place “Miracle Bandage Plus” can be used for preventing and healing bed sores as well as skin tears, utilizing MBET’s patented Natural Marine Extract. The bandage reduces pain for care receivers and time for caregivers.
All important aspects of the wide world of wellness!
