"a Different Kind of Cloth"

I was confronted this week with whether to publish a new piece or re-visit a previously published piece.
Concurrently, I battled with whether to deliver an episode that addressed my personal issues as it relates to family, or deliver a piece that addresses the seemingly perpetual struggles that afflicts MY PEOPLE as a whole.
I chose the latter.
Wh?, Because it angers and confounds me that WE are continually presented with battles that have previously been won through the blood, and sweat, and oftentimes lives, of our ancestors.
So , I chose to re-publish
"a Different Kind of Cloth"
as an admonition to those who persistently question our fortitude through the abominable acts and the "placing of their knee on our necks" in hopes that WE will succumb to a hatred that is clearly provoked by racism.
More importantly, I chose to republish this episode in hopes of reinvigorating and hardening the will of those of us who have resorted to accepting and abiding in that place referred to as " IT IS WHAT IT IS"!!
In all humility, as I revisited my earlier episodes, I felt a stirring, that evoked feelings of the significance and relevance of the spirit inspired words contained within each.
Re-visiting them also inspired me to cast aside those thoughts of stepping away for a moment from my weekly episodes of The Spoken Word.
Why? Because I know within my heart that...GOD ain't finished with what HE is doing through me!!
OUR SPIRIT LIVES!!!

That one word , I think, best surmises my people. Despite all that we have encountered, and continue to encounter, we continue to confront each with an enduring faith, and an enduring spirit.
"a Different Kind of Cloth", though simplistically composed, is my attempt to capture US as we are confronted with, and successfully address, the day-to-day circumstances of life.
As you listen think about the various ways in which "your cloth" has been tested.
I am sure there are numerous stories to be told.
Yes, you find yourself able to tell them, in part, due to THE ENDURING SPIRIT so meticulously woven within your "cloth".
Indeed, "OUR SPIRIT LIVES"...
