Manage episode 374898846 series 3465202
Ryan Lundy is 43, married, and a father of two - an 18 y/o daughter and 15 y/o son. He was a 16 year Infantry veteran of Iraq and Bosnia. A non combat injury cut his career short. He’s been a full time police officer for 16 years for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. In that time he’s battled criminals, injuries and the loss of 4 officers he’s worked with as well as his own demons in the form of PTSD and depression. He self medicated with alcohol for several years to avoid dealing with the problem or admitting he had one. It completely devoured him until one day he picked up the phone and asked for help. There’s a whole story about how that came to happen that he will share. At the time of this recording, he has been sober for 2 years, 6 months and 20 days. Ryan is a a certified addiction peer recovery coach - you can reach him by email at 30427@indy.gov or send a DM on IG: @ryan_lundy1
