Mark Mattson is a Professor of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University. He is the former Chief of the Laboratory of Neurosciences at the National Institute on Aging Intramural Research Program of the National Institute on Aging.
He’s one of the foremost researchers in the area of cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Mattson is recognized by The National Institute of Health as "one of the world’s top experts on the potential cognitive and physical health benefits of intermittent fasting".
