Modern Resources In The Continual Fight Against Military Suicide
Manage episode 439707500 series 3450378
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
Today, September 13th, is the second-to-last day of National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Week. To end this week's episode covering suicide and mental health, I have Scott DeLuzio here to address the active duty military and veteran suicide crisis.
Now, more than ever, there are resources out there for our men and women in the service, and well after they serve. Scott shares with us his personal encounters with suicidal soldiers, the affect deployment had on him, and the shocking reality of post-deployment events.
Additionally, I share my experiences in the shipyard, and some stories and observations from my shipmates, and guests that I've had on my show.
Scott and I also discuss some of the contributing factors of suicidal ideation, honing in on isolation, community, hobbies, and the role of leaders in the service.
