Each year approx. 1-2 million people die prematurely from lead poisoning and 1 in 3 children – up to 800 million globally – have blood lead levels at or above 5 micrograms per deciliter (µg/dL), the level at which requires action to prevent lead poisoning and it’s long term health impacts. *
