One of the subjects that many couples don’t talk about is Money! Each person has their own relationship with money, often due to their upbringing, whether there was an abundance of money or lack of money in their family. As a result, they will have their own perceptions of how money should be spent or not! Emily and I discuss these and how to overcome some of those assumptions, without fighting.

Emily Blain is a premarital financial coach committed to helping couples talk about money without fighting.

After discovering financial coaching during the summer of 2019, she spent the next 18 months learning about how to coach and honing her skills. In early 2021, with the help of the Financial Coaches Network, she started developing a program specifically to help engaged couples develop the skills and tools to communicate about money and build financial confidence.

Everyone brings assumptions and expectations into a relationship, and money can be one of the most emotionally sensitive topics. By bringing those feelings and thoughts to each other, couples can build their relationship and turn a potential major stressor into a strength instead.
