What in the world is leaky gut?
Leaky gut is a term that is often misunderstood by very terms of its name. It actually is a condition that occurs due to gaps in the membrane lining your intestinal wall.
These tiny gaps allow toxic substances that should be confined to your digestive tract to escape into your bloodstream – hence the term leaky gut syndrome.
The toxic substances can come from numerous sources, such as waste products, undigested food particles or even Candida yeast overgrowth. The problem is that they can they irritate your intestinal lining, eventually compromising its integrity and allowing a flow of toxic particles to "leak out" into your bloodstream. This flood of leaking particles can also promote an inflammatory reaction from your body that can result in a wide variety of symptoms
