In this episode, I’m joined by Boston-based, vegan natural bodybuilder and coach, Ben Mitchell. Ben is an example of someone who TRULY loves bodybuilding. He got his undergrad in Exercise and Movement science and self-admittedly spends a huge amount of his free time immersing himself in all things bodybuilding - nutrition research, training programming, and all other aspects involved and it shows when you talk to him!
Ben just recently competed in his first bodybuilding show where he earned 2nd overall in a competitive class - a massive achievement for a first timer and someone of his training age, especially. I had the pleasure of visiting Boston during that time and documenting his journey into that show so if you haven’t already, I highly recommend going over to his YouTube channel at @BenAMitchell, and checking that video out. Since then, he’s competed in several other shows and has been coaching with the VeganProteins Coaching crew so if you’re looking for coaching, make sure to check that out too.
Ben and I chat all about how he found bodybuilding and why he decided to pursue it competitively, his story behind going vegan, his last bodybuilding season and how he prepped on a fully plant based diet, why he decided to end it early and the repercussions of staying contest lean for an extended period of time, his favorite vegan bodybuilding meals and much more!
Ben portrays a very transparent, objective and straightforward demeanor with all of his info and I think it’s absolutely invaluable for all of us vegan fitness junkies out here.
