A number of traumatic incidents resulted in Becca being diagnosed as having Complex PTSD, one of these incidents also left her suffering with the symptoms of Phantom Pain.
Various therapies followed, as well as lengthy periods on referral waiting lists….
Watching a documentary which examined replacing anti-depressant medication through spending time in nature, led to Becca to trying outdoor/wild swimming. Time spent in the water brought relief, to both body & mind, and an inspirational journey of self discovery and achievement began.
‘The Ice Mile’ requires an individual to swim one-mile in water under a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius, or less, wearing just a standard costume, goggles and swim hat.
Becca completed ‘The Ice Mile’ in winter 2022, swimming the cold water of Loch Insh. She is now a Swim Guide at SwimWild.
