Jackie Kennedy captivated the world from the moment she stepped onto the U.S. presidential campaign trail for her charismatic husband. Not until Princess Di would we again see how a young, glamorous and savvy wife of a famous man would influence generations of women amid intense media scrutiny. In today’s interview we have the unique, invaluable insight of historian and actress Leslie Goddard (see Episode 20) to share how Jackie impacted world view, especially in the year after John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Jackie’s constant reinvention over time inspires us, at midlife+, that it’s never too late to start anew and pursue passions and goals with the personal expression and self-care important to realizing change.
Leslie Goddard, Ph.D., is an award-winning scholar and actress who has been portraying great women in history for more than 20 years. www.lesliegoddard.info

Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis: The Untold Story, by Barbara Leaming
Additional Books Recommended by Leslie:

Jackie: Public, Private, Secret by J. Randy Taraborrelli (2023). Often dwells on salacious details, but also paints a compelling image of a woman who, in private, was far more sure of herself than commonly assumed.
Reading Jackie: Her Autobiography in Books by William Kuhn (2010). My favorite among several recent books exploring Jackie’s later-life career as an editor.
Jackie and the Books She Loved by Ronni Diamondstein (2023). Children’s book that introduces young readers to the idea of how books guided Jackie’s life.
