I often quote Albert Einstein's definition of insanity: “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Hi, I'm Pascale Gibon. Welcome to episode 256 of the Everyday Life Balance Show. Thank you for tuning in.

Ok, I agree insanity is a strong word. Albert Einstein's definition is grounded in the idea that even though we desire to change our results, we habitually keep making the same mistakes because we keep acting the same way.

Consequently, we cannot change our results when we keep adopting the behaviour pattern that gives us results we do not want.

Einstein's definition of insanity illustrates a habitual behaviour that does not favour change. Think about it, how can you change things if you keep doing what does not work?

I covered in episode 254 the idea of organised thinking, and I believe it applies here.

As a personal development coach, I believe in human beings' constant evolution. When you desire to improve your life, what is necessary is to look at what works and does not. If a particular behaviour does not give you your desired result, you need to let go and change it into something more positive.

It is common sense. However, we fail, at times, to see this point clearly. We are so ingrained in what we habitually do that we resist making the necessary changes.

Have you considered this? What if the small change you made in your behaviour pattern led to a significant shift in your results for the better? Take the time now to reflect on this possibility.

Subtle changes can make a drastic shift. However, the first thing you need to do is to let go of what does not work.

The necessary mindset shift here is the willingness to let go of the old behaviour to adopt a new one.

Achieving success or whatever you desire to accomplish in your life means doing things in a certain way and relies heavily on changing your perspective to transform your results. We are now more than halfway through the year, and there is plenty of time to improve the things you can control and would like to bring into the light.

Take a moment to think of the things you desire to improve in your life and how you can make them a reality.

  • What old behaviour pattern do you need to let go of to improve your results?
  • Is it your finances? Do you need a more rigorous money management system?
  • Is it your health? Do you need to eliminate some stressors in your life to get peace in your mind?
  • Is it your relationship with your child? They have become uncontrollable, and you feel frustrated as a parent?

Here is your next step: whatever you need to improve in your life, clarify what it is and take the necessary actions to change your results, for the better, by letting go of the old behaviour pattern that does not work and introducing a new one.
